PHYGITAL CYBORGS: TENTACULUS

The interactivity of the PHYGITAL CYBORGS invites to act as well as to freely associate whether technical progress or decline. The personification of technical devices is examined, the borderline between weak artificial intelligence and machine consciousness is determined. Optimized perception enhancement of the body or its standardization through technically perfected programming is thus questioned by Nena Čermák. While trying out and playing with the objects, the flow of time is interrupted. The cyborg organs emit sounds when touched. The viewer reflects himself together with his play with ever new sound collages as part of the work. The sounding cyborg organs combine in space to form a whole. Nena Čermák’s CYBORGS deconstruct the usual categorizing gender roles. In the formal collaboration of phallic with vulva-like of the object ADAMEVE, for example, it is revealed that a CYBORG has neither male nor female gender, but both. By using recycled materials from everyday life with used surfaces, a bridge to the present is built in addition to a new moment of tension. Haptic, synaesthetic capture of art delights and acts as a lasting engagement with the revealed phenomena.
